Purchase & Download Audio

Buy a licensed audio file from a digital store and get it ready to upload for transcription.

1. Choose a Licensed Source

You need a store that lets you download the audio file (not just stream it). Good options include:

iTunes / Apple Music (purchases)

Buy individual tracks or albums. Downloaded files are DRM-free AAC/M4A.

Amazon Music (MP3 purchases)

Buy and download MP3 files directly from Amazon.

Bandcamp

Buy tracks from independent artists. Choose from MP3, FLAC, WAV, and more.

Note: Streaming-only services (Spotify, Apple Music streaming, YouTube Music) use DRM protection. You cannot download or upload those files. You need a purchased download.

2. Purchase & Download

Buy the track and download it to a known folder on your computer.

  • iTunes / Apple Music: Go to your Library → right-click the track → Download
  • Amazon: Go to My Music → click Download
  • Bandcamp: After purchase, click Download and choose your preferred format

Save the file (MP3, M4A, or AAC) somewhere easy to find, like your Downloads folder or Desktop.

3. Check the Format

Bots for Music accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, and AAC. Most stores deliver MP3 or M4A, which work directly — no conversion needed.

If your file is in an unsupported format, see the Convert a Video File to Audio tutorial for conversion tips.

4. Upload to Bots for Music

Go to the transcriber, click upload, and select your downloaded file. The maximum length is 6 minutes.

5. Your Rights

Scores and MIDI files you generate with Bots for Music are yours to use as you wish — print them, share them, perform from them, or publish them.

However, you are responsible for having the necessary rights to the underlying source material. Purchasing a track gives you a personal-use license — distributing the resulting sheet music may require additional permissions from the rights holder.
